Re: Don't understand symtoms

Sounds like you are very much on your own to deal with your symptoms. Has your hospital got IBD nurses? Write a list of all your questions, and symptoms for your consultant.
Ask what you do if you need treatment/advice inbetween appointments.

Sounds like you need to change GP surgery.

People in work are sponsoring me NOT to see the photos, at over 50 and totally unphotogenic. Just bought my underwear for the shoot! :D

Re: Just diagnosed

Your consultant was probably annoyed you'd had to wait as you've been suffering from your flare up longer than you could have been. Sounds like you've got a good consultant. Diet very much depends on the individual. Low fibre is recommended when flaring, as fibre irritates an inflammed bowel. You've...

Re: Support

If you've been signed off by your consultant, you'd need a referral back by your GP. If you see him annually, you'll still be on the books.

Re: left sided?distal colitis

sounds like your GI wasnt interested.
Agree with your family, a surgeon is not going to remove a colon because he feels like it. And now that horrid, diseased colon is out, you'll start to see a difference in how you feel.

Re: Post Birth Flare Up- Struggling

Sorry only just seen your post. Hopefully by now you'll have followed Phil's advice and are recovering. Chronic fatigue is a side effect of UC. Let alone the tiredness of being a new mum. Hope things are improving, but if you havn't seen anyone yet, push for an appointment was a gastroenterologist. ...

Great news! So pleased for you both :D And the fact you are annoyed at the muesli bars rather than worrying about the blockage shows how better things are!

Keep it up, and keep us updated.

Re: I'm new here, would welcome advice!

You sound well informed, and you've got a radar key. If you can exercise, then do so, I was told it moves the blood away from the bowel area, so can help. I found not eating before I exercised helped. I'd suggest if you are still bleeding, get in touch with the IBD nurse. If you are bleeding you are...
