Hi All

I am new on here and just been diagnosed with UC (22nd Feb 2017)

The only symptoms I had was blood when I went to the toilet with diarrhea, and Weight loss.
I saw the doctor who referred me for an endoscope. I had the procedure on 22nd Feb which is when I was told it was UC. He prescribed me Pentasa suppositories which had stopped the bleeding.

But I still have diarrhea daily. But now I have lost my appetite and I can watch the weight drop off.

My GP wasn't that worried about the weight loss. But I am! It is so bad that my anxiety is through the roof. I can't sleep, eat or function correctly.

Would like some advice / Help or just support please?

Just saw your post. Was quite a while ago so not sure if you will see this reply.

I hope you are ok and that you are getting the meds and support you need. Getting diagnosed is a strange thing - but you quickly adapt to it, and things will be back to normal. It's odd how life sort of goes along after strange news.

I have had UC for 11years - bad experiences often become funny stories, and day to day troubles often become normal and therefore bring you very little stress.

If things do get rough then plenty of rest and making sure your school, uni of work is well informed is a life saver.

Also - normalise poo with your family and friends! Then you can say things like "my poo looks like that..." When out and about and no one will care haha.

Regarding weight loss, I lost 3 and a half stone when I was diagnosed - which was terrifying. But as the meds worked I put it back on, and hopefully that is how it will go from you. If you are worried you must contact the clinic/doctor asap - get a good record of these things. I have 11years of notes which I think has helped a lot.

If you do read this reply, feel free to send over a message.
